Thursday Thirteen : Environmental Care

Thirteen Things about Environmental Care

1. Practice proper garbage segregation at home. Start by segregating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

2. Check out Waste Markets near your area where you can donate or sell recyclable items.

3. Recycle paper to save our trees. Many offices in the Philippines are now using recycled paper in printing office documents. If your office is not yet doing this, try to suggest this to your office admin.

4. Go paperless. If hard copies of reports and other documents are not necessary, save them on the computer instead of printing.

5. Avoid using plastic bags when going to the grocery. Bring your own non-plastic bags that you can re-use. Some supermarkets give you the option to avail of their non-plastic bags for a minimal fee.

6. To avoid adding to air pollution, have your vehicles go through emission test regularly.

7. Conserve electricity at home, in school, at the office ... wherever and whenever possible.

8. Conserve water in all places. For example if you see a faucet in the public bathroom that was left open, make it a point to close it.

9. Support the Clean Air Act. Do not burn garbage.

10.
Plant trees.

11. Teach your own children about the importance of taking care of Mother Earth while they are young so they can grow up with a strong sense of caring for the environment.

12. Encourage others to do their share in taking care of the environment. Every small task counts.

13. Support organizations, foundations and projects dedicated to environmental care and conservation.

My husband and I took part of Project E.A.R.T.H. last Jan. 26, 2008. E.A.R.T.H. stands for Environmental Awareness and Responsive Through Homebuilding. It was a project aimed to encourage residents to sustain the well being of village communities. Below are some photos taken during that day ...

Tagged :: Alphabet Tag

Rule #1
Copy all the links below and replace a single link under the appropriate alphabet. If your domain name, or even the title of your blog, starts with an ” A,” you’d replace the link under that alphabet and put the replaced link at the bottom. Also, don’t forget to credit the tagger, or where you got the list from, at the end of the list with a full URL of the post so that a ping back gets generated.
  1. alwaysbcmom.com

Rule #2You now have to “tag” at least five people and encourage them to participate so that this thing spreads like a virus. Remember, though, that not everyone’s into these kinds of things, so don’t be upset if they don’t participate. Just simply replace your tag. Remember to tag blogs only and no pornographic ones as we do want to keep the integrity as a blogging community. TIP: Tag your frequent EntreCard droppers via its messaging system.

I am tagging... Sasha, Jenny, Kailani, Jayver and Midas

Rule #3 Just like any other “meme” out there, ask a question for your taggees to answer along with your own answer to your previous question. This is optional.———–END HERE—————-

Fish Out of Water

I missed three gym sessions and when I returned today, I found out that our instructor incorporated something new in our morning routine. Instead of the usual Tae Bo, he started the "Hip Hop" Dance Aero (I just don't know what to call it).

I found it hard to follow and I was a little shy doing the steps. Honestly, dancing is not exactly one of my strong points. I think I have two left feet. Ha ha! Anyway, I'm comfortable with my gym buddies because they also happen to be fellow moms from school. I see the dance steps on TV and never imagined myself doing it. It felt a little awkward seeing myself on the mirror. I couldn't help but laugh. I felt like a fish out of water.

The new steps are for targeted for the abs. The new work out program will take some time getting used to but I think it will be fun.

Comforts of Central Heating

It's so easy to take for granted the climate we have here in the Philippines. More often, I complain about our warm weather but I realized how heat can be very important to people living in other countries. I have many relatives living in cold climate countries. I learned how important it is to have dependable heating available to them. I found out that quality service is a big consideration when choosing a company that provides central heating. At Northern Gas Heating, you are assured of great service and affordable pricing that fit your requirements.

Getting Central heating installation is a good investment because you can expect a dependable source of heat especially during the cold months of the year. Access to controllable warmth and hot water are added comforts to life. The benefit of saving on energy costs is a great added value that Northern Gas Heating gives its clients. It doesn’t stop there, because Northern Gas Heating gives a free five-year warranty to its valuable customers.

Aside from installing new heating service, Northern Gas also offers Boiler service by highly qualified CORGI registered engineer. Take advantage of the comforts and the peace of mind that this beneficial Gas central heating gives.

Happy Birthday Nancze

I would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to my dear friend ...

Hope that you will have a beautiful celebration with your dear ones.
May your heart be filled with joy and inspiration.
I also pray that you will have a speedy recovery my friend.
Take care and God bless.

Weekend Snapshot #14

To join this weekly meme, click here

Last Saturday, January 26, 2008, my husband and I participated in a tree planting activity spearheaded by Avida Land Corp in line with its Clean and Green Project with this year's theme "Project E.A.R.TH." (I'll share more about this in another post).

We planted several Mahogany and Molave trees around San Rafael Estates. It was a fun activity and it felt good to be able to have a small contribution in promoting environmental awareness.

Hope you can also visit my weekend snapshot at Soulful Thoughts (my other blog). I would appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Life is a Journey ...

There are times when I'm in a reminiscing mood. I realized that if we learn to look back over the years with a positive attitude, we can use our experiences as stepping stones to help lead us towards the right direction. Sometimes, we get side tracked or we fall but the decision is always ours. If we choose to be brave, to stand up and continue with our journey, there is always hope of joyful times ahead.

Online Billiards

Playing billiards is a favorite past time of my cousins. I still need a lot of practice but I also enjoy billiards. In fact, billiards have become a favorite sport in the country. It's amazing that you can now enjoy playing virtual billiards. I found out that there are even billiard tournaments that you can take part of. It sounds fun and exciting. Billiard enthusiast can have a great time playing online pool and even have the chance to win cash prizes.

Photo Hunt :: Old Fashion

PSHunt
Come and join the hunt here.

This is quite an old fashioned kerosene lamp that my parents bought early during their marriage. They used it to light the house whenever there was a brownout (power failure).

After several years, this kerosene lamp looks old . You can see the worn out paint and signs of rust but it is still very useful. We bought several rechargeable lamps in the past but they just didn't last unlike this old fashioned kerosene lamp that has outlived its modern counterparts. It might look worn out but it is very dependable during brownouts.

Aloha Friday #16

Rules: Post any question on your blog on a Friday, share your answer and sign Kailani's Mr. Linky. Then have fun answering the questions of fellow participants by visiting their blogs.

What was the last movie you watched at the movie theater?

The last movie I watched with my husband and son was Bee Movie. It was an entertaining movie but I won't consider it as one of my favorite animated films. I'm just glad Yohan had a great time which is more important than what I thought of the film.
