I think one of the best prison movies is The Shawshank Redemption shown in 1984. The story is about a man named Andy Dufresne. He is a successful banker whose life turned a drastic 360 degrees when he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. He forms strong friendship with another inmate named Ellis Redding, also known as Red. Andy faces many tough situations inside the prison. His knowledge and skill in finance makes him popular among guards. Determination, patience and hope lead him to his great escape from prison. He escapes federal inmate search and walks away with a fortune he outwits from Warden Samuel Norton.
