Yohan's Awards and Progress Report
On a happy note, Jules and I are very happy when we received Yohan's report card. All his grades improved and majority of his grades were O (Outstanding) and several VS (very satisfactory).
To our delight, we were handed two certificates of award from his school. In nursery, they still don't have an honor roll program instead they give out awards to showcase the strong area(s) where a nursery student excel from 1st to 4th grading period. Yohan received the Word Smart Award and Number Smart Award.
This photo was taken at The Nazareth School. I saw this tarpaulin displayed at the school office and thought it would be nice to have Yohan pose beside it.

Jules and I also received the Nursery Progress Report from Yohan's teachers for the Fourth Quarter 2008. Progress Reports are given every 1st Quarter and Fourth Quarter of the school year. It highlights a student's strong points and areas that need some improvement. We're very happy that Yohan has done well in his Nursery class. We also appreciate learning the areas where he needs more help and guidance. Here's the Progress Report below. I decreased the size so it can fit but I hope you can still manage to read the words.

Connecting to India
Jules' uncle, Captain M is an international pilot. He is often assigned to different countries. Last year, he was stationed at
Captain M is a good pilot and his colleagues look up to him. I admire his dedication to his work. He is also a good provider to his family, a good husband and wonderful father. It's always nice to have him around because he initiates family get-togethers. When he is away because of work, he always calls home to check on his family, son and daughters.
Yohanism #18

On our way to Yohan's school for his enrollment, Yohan noticed this man pushing a cart.

Yohan: "Look at those colorful birds mommy. Are they love birds?"
Me: "No honey. They are chicks."
Yohan: "But the only chicks I see are yellow. I've never seen colored chicks before."
Me: "Chicks are really yellow but that man colored them."
Yohan: "Really? Can we do that when we get home later? That's fun."
Me: "No, we can't because it's not good. Coloring the chicks might make them sick."
Yohan: "Who colored those chicks? That man?"
Me: "I'm not sure. Maybe."
Yohan: "Are those chicks going to die? Poor little chicks."
Me: "I don't think so. Don't worry, I'm sure they will be fine."
I told him this so he won't feel bad about the chicks. Yohan has always shown great empathy for animals and I know it would upset him if he learns that the chicks will not survive long in such conditions.

Phone Cards Avenue
Calling overseas can be quite expensive. My parents and my brother often use phone cards in order to save valuable money on overseas calls. Not all phone cards are the same. Some phone cards give you quality talk time while others give you the opposite. There are occasions when my phone conversation with my parents and brother is noisy and choppy. There are also times when I find it difficult to understand what they are saying because of the echoing or delayed sound. My family appreciates the savings but they cannot tolerate inferior phone service. They would rather pay higher than put up with terrible phone conversations. Whenever they experience a problem on a particular phone card, they make sure they don’t buy the same one again.
