Birthday Roses

It was my special day yesterday but hubby was already out of the house early in the morning to help facilitate a badminton tournament in Lipa City. To make it up to me, he went home after lunch to give me a surprise. He asked Yohan to give these to me ...


Then he went out again to host the Sports fest of our village. Oh well, I had no choice but to accept that he was busy as a bee.

I didn't have any party but I'm glad Francis (my brother), Cess (my SIL), Onang (my brother's friend) and Chary (my best friend) visited me. It was wonderful spending my special day with them.


I would like to thank everyone who greeted me on my birthday. Thank you for remembering. I consider every sweet and thoughtful greeting as a big pleasure. You made me very happy. God bless.

These photos were taken last February 2008 at the 12th PIHABF (Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta). It was my family's first time to watch an air balloon festival. It was exhilarating watching the air balloons inflate gradually and lift up high in the sky one by one.

Do you always stop what you're doing and stand up when you hear the national anthem?

Yes, I always do. It's a pity not everyone cares to show respect anymore.

Take for instance at the movie theater, assuming there are only a few people inside, would you stand up upon hearing the national anthem being played? I would. Sadly, when I watched a movie with my family recently, we noticed that we were the only ones who cared to stand up to show respect to the national anthem. We were there early to catch the first movie time slot. It was a weekday and there were only a handful of people. We stood up the moment we heard the national anthem but the couple a few rows in front of us remained seated munching on their popcorn. Even the other family seated near us didn't bother to stand up.

Yohanism #17

Yohan loves drawing things and last week he gave me a unique drawing.

Yohan: "Mom, I have a surprise for you."

Me: "Really? May I see it?"

He gave me this drawing ...


Me: "How nice. What is it?"

Yohan: "It's a machine."

Me: "What does it do?"

Yohan: "It's a special machine."

He told me about each component of his "machine" and I've labeled them below so you can easily see.



Here are selected parts of Yohan's machine that he elaborated...

• Bug swatter - It hits cockroaches, mosquitoes, red ants, centipedes. It does not hit ladybugs, bees, butterflies, black ants.

• Balloon Popper - Pops bad balloons and not ordinary balloons.

• Pick Up Tool - Picks up small rocks.

• Wing - So the machine can fly.

I noticed the over the recent months my computer has gotten slower and slower. I realized I have used a great bulk of my computer's memory. The slow computer performance is probably due to the increasing number of large files like photos and music on my computer.

The large number of files in my computer has also affected the speed of my Internet connection. It is slower than usual even though I have recently upgraded my bandwidth. Surprise

I love receiving surprises. It always brightens my day to know that someone is thinking of me and cares enough to give me a delightful surprise.

I recently received a wonderful advance birthday surprise from my parents. They sent me a new digicam and handycam. Thanks Dad and Mom. I'll see you very soon.

Easter Sunday

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebration. We went to mass in the morning and had a nice lunch at home. My hubby and I organized an easter egg hunt for Yohan and his cousins in our garden that same afternoon.

We bought some nice giveaways for the kids like coloring books, stickers, bubbles, clay, assorted toys, mini flashlights, kiddie dinner set, books, tote bags and sweet treats. Yohan's grandma wasn't able to come along but he made her a special Easter card below.

Yohan had a great time easter egg hunting with his cousins, Tisha and Sofie.

It was nice watching my niece, Sofie in egg pursuit. It was a nice coincidence that the tote bag I gave her matched her clothes.

Summer To Do List

Summer is here and perfect time to do some minor renovations, repairs and check-ups for the house. We're thinking of having the outdoor fence and walls repainted. The roof also needs a brand new paint job. It's also time for our annual termite inspection. We don't want another termite infestation to happen again. We're more careful now. The garden needs tending because of the weeds. Well, it seems there's much to do this summer and hope to get things started after Holy Week.

My son, Yohan dreams of becoming a chef. Here you can see him with his metal-like cooking wares. His toy pots and pans have a metal-like finish and even has that chrome "glow" that reflects on his face.

March Blog Carnival :: I Dream of Peaches 'n Cream

I'm joinining Toni's Blog Carnival again this month. For the month of March, the theme is a delicious one: I Dream of Peaches 'n Cream. I love peaches and I like the idea of adding cream to it. I asked my hubby to make something that uses both ingredients.

We love pancakes. Majority think that pancakes are best served for breakfast but my family loves eating pancakes any time of the day. In fact, pancakes can be a good dessert. Hubby made some pancake dessert last Wednesday which he served after dinner.

We have two "chefs" in the family. Below Chef 1 (hubby) is shown making pancakes with a twist. He added some sliced peaches.

Meanwhile Chef 2 (Yohan) thought of making his own dessert ... Flora Marshmallows seasoned with fun, dash of excitement and sprinkled with laughter.

Now back to Chef 1, he closed the pancake ala crepe style. He garnished it with chocolate frosting that he usually puts on cakes and topped the pancake with cream. Viola, Peach Pancakes.


Chef 2 thinks that Chef 1 did a great job and shows his approval. :)

How to make your own:

Just follow your basic pancake recipe but to make the pancake thinner than usual, add more water. Add slices of peaches in the middle, add all purpose cream and sprinkle some confectioner's sugar. Close the sides of the pancake. If desired, put some chocolate frosting on top then add cream. Let it cool and put inside the refrigerator for a few minutes . Serve as snack or dessert.

Yohanism #16

It's been several months since I last shared a memorable Yohanism so I thought it would be nice to add more to this portion of memories. This only happened yesterday morning. In fact, this was what inspired me to write another Yohanism entry.

I was on my computer (in the bedroom) early in the morning and I didn't notice Yohan waking up. I just heard him say in a soft and mild tone ...

Yohan: "My heart is broken."

His voice caught me by surprise but I didn't go to him immediately because I decided to finish typing the last sentence on my blog. All I managed to say to him was ...

Me: "Why?"

Yohan: "Because you didn't kiss me good morning."

His words made me get up from my chair and go to him as fast as I can.

Me: "I'm so sorry." Then I gave him a big kiss.

Yohan: "My heart is fixed."

I felt so guilty after that and I even felt my eyes water. I immediately shut down my computer and brought Yohan downstairs. We ate breakfast together and we played with some of his Transformers after.
