Tagged :: (another) 8 Random Facts

I've been tagged by Amy of Amy's Random Thoughts to share 8 Random Facts about myself. I lost count of the number of times I've been tagged to share random things about myself but I don't mind getting another tag from a friend.

More Random Things About Myself ...

1. I'm an unica hija (only girl) in the family. I have a brother who is three years younger than me.

2. I'm not comfortable wearing heels. I've always loved flip flops.

3. I'm not good in shaping my eyebrows so I depend on my stylist to thread my eyebrows after every couple of weeks.

4. When I admire an actor, I make it a point to watch his other movies (old and new) until I get him off my mind. {edited: (10:53 p.m.) I forgot to add that I also exhaust the internet for photos and interesting news about the actor.}

5. I'm sentimental. I treasure keepsakes of memorable moments.

6. I'm terrible when it comes to budgeting.

7. I haven't finished my MBA. I've been on an indefinite leave from graduate school after giving birth. I still need to take my electives and do my thesis to earn my degree.

8. My weird defense mechanism is going into denial.

I posted this picture and poem last year when I was relatively new at blogging. I didn't have any blog friends at that time and the original post didn't have a single comment. So I thought it would be a nice idea to share this again. It seems perfect for this week's theme too because I consider this as a memorable and sweet moment with my son.

My heart leaps everytime I see a beautiful rainbow.
Wonderful colors splashed in a magical spectrum.
Legends say there is gold at the end of every rainbow.
It's true! I found mine ... and his name is Yohan.

This was what I had for dessert last night. It's a slice of ube cake. It's a very sweet and rich cake. Ube is a Filipino term for purple yam. It's not my favorite cake but I like having it occasionally.

Yohanism #11

At Jollibee Drive Thru:
(This happened today when we decided to buy Yohan his favorite chicken meal after his class.)

Drive Thru Attendant: Hi Sir. Welcome to Jollibee! What's your order?

Jules:
1 Chickenjoy Kids Meal, 2 plain Jolly Twirl and 1 Rocky Road Brownie.

Drive Thru Attendant: What's the drink for the Jolly Kids Meal?

Jules: Sprite.

Drive Thru Attendant: Is that all sir?

Jules: I forgot, please add extra gravy.

Then from the back of the car, our little boy said
...

Yohan: And extra toy please.

The friendly drive thru attendant was so amused but we understand that she couldn't give Yohan an extra toy.

Incidentally, Yohan just completed all 4 Transformers from Jollibee and he's very happy. Jules promised that we'll watch the Transformers movie early next week. He bought a DVD of Transformers cartoons. I watched it with Yohan and I couldn't help singing the theme. It brought back happy memories of me and brother watching the Transformers on TV when we were young.

The Cabbage Patch that Never Was

When I was a young girl, I wanted to have one of those Cabbage Patch Kids (CPK). They became popular some time in the 80s. Their cute, chubby faces made them so appealing to kids. I love how each CPK doll was packaged with adoption papers, a birth certificate and list of tips on how to care for the "newborn."

I asked my parents for one but during that time they were not available in the Philippines. My classmates who had Cabbage Patch Kids got their dolls from the States. I think they were a little pricey for a doll at that time. I had the chance to play with CPK whenever some of my classmates brought their dolls in school.

Now that I'm older, I still find myself admiring CPK displayed in stores. There was a time I was almost tempted to buy one for myself. :)

Even though I didn't get the doll I wished for, my parents gave my brother and I wonderful toys. My favorite was my barbie doll collection. My brother had a cool collection of G.I. Joe and He-Man action figures.

Was there a toy(s) that you wanted as a child but never got?

Happy Birthday to my Brother

I may be older than three years but you have always been wiser and more responsible. I remember when we were younger, you have always relied on me for help and guidance. As we grew older, tables turned. You became my source of strength. We may not always share the same views. In fact, we always seem to be at opposite ends but we have learned to overcome our differences and find ways to compliment each other.

You have been through a big change lately and I wish I was there to share your special day. I just want you to know that I love you and pray for your constant happiness.

Happy Birthday my dear brother.

Threefold Blessing

I am ...

Touched.

Grateful.

Overwhelmed.

Giddy.

Thankful.

Inspired.

Imagine receiving the Rockin' Girl Blogger award from three wonderful friends. I feel truly happy being the recipient of this great and thoughtful recognition.

Congratulations Connie, Anni and Julie for receiving the Rocking Girl Blogger award! You all deserve it. Thank you for letting me be a part of this blessing. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank each of you for the sweet and heartwarming words...
Rachel-For sharing her days and letting me be a part of her life. She is such a good mother and I love to see her darling son grow with each picture. She is so full of goodness. - Connie of Serious Mumbo Jumbo
Thank you Connie for being so generous to me in more ways than one. I'm so happy to receive your Charm Giveaway package and now this! I can't thank you enough. Your sweet and generous nature makes you endearing to many people. Thanks for being a thoughtful friend.
Heart of Rachel!! I've met Rachel through a weekly blogroll and became a regular visitor. There are so many soulful thoughts and heartfelt messages given to us with her blogging! Her blog makes me feel welcome and comfortable. - Anni of Hootin' Anni
Thank you Anni for sharing this remarkable gift. I equally enjoy visiting your blog. I felt welcome the first time I visited you and I found myself coming back for more. I love your carefree and fun spirit.
Rachel from Heart of Rachel - She is a very kind person and I really enjoy her blog. She always leaves such kind comments and is very caring. - Julie of Jules Journal (Celebrating Life and Family)
Thank you Julie for giving me this delightful honor. I was easily warmed by your sweet and nurturing character the first time I encountered your blog. I appreciate how you always make me feel so welcome.

In my thoughts, all my dear blogging friends deserve to be called Rockin' Girl Bloggers (except for the guys of course, haha!) but since tradition requires only five, I would like to share my blessings to the following (in no particular order) ...

1. Dine (a.k.a. Sexy Mom) of The D Spot - Her successful career demaded her to travel a lot but I admire how she has effectively balanced her roles at work and at home. She is a young retiree who continues to live a productive life through freelance writing and media consultations. Dine is a mother of seven brilliant children who are all probloggers. She is a great inspiration to many.

2. Chateau of iMoM - She is a dedicated work-at-home mom. I had the privilege of meeting her in person. The first thing about her that striked me was her lovely smile. Chats is sweet, friendly and fun-loving. It's interesting how we seem to have a penchant for similar food. No wonder, we got along pretty well on our first meeting.

3. Daphne of My Little Moments - Honest, straightforward, independent, adventurous and free-spirited. Those are only some of the positive traits that I admire about Daphne. She loves watching films and makes excellent reviews. Her experiences in living in different countries have molded her into a well-rounded and strong individual.

4. Pea of Pea's Corner - Pea finds pleasure in the simple things in life. She loves travelling and giving her readers a virtual tour of the lovely places she visit through her photos. I love her fairy garden. With all the fairy dust in the air, it's not a surprise to see all those beautiful flowers that bloom in her garden.

5. Annamanila of Ode2Old - Anna writes passionately about life around her. She has a wonderful gift of putting together the perfect string of words. She writes so effectively that I feel every bit of emotion behind the words. Simply put, her writing moves me.

Crossroads

Dedicated to C

I felt sadness in my heart when I heard your voice on the other line. I'm sorry that your heart is broken. I never dreamed that you and J will part ways. I thought it was just a phase. You've gone through similar situations in the past but you always reconciled your differences. I cannot believe that you have gone separate ways for good.

I know you are hurting when J said goodbye. I know that we cannot bring back yesterday and wish everything will return the way they were. Perhaps God has a better plan for you and J. I hope that in time, the pain will go away. For now, I pray that you can start fresh and look forward in life. I know it will not be easy after nine years of being together but he has moved on and you should do the same. I just hope that we can always remain good friends even though you and J have come to a fork in the road. J may be part of my family, but you will always be special to me. I shall cherish the wonderful times we've spent together. I hope that our friendship will not fade in time. Take care C and may you find the right man for you someday. God bless.
