Friday's Feast #5

Join the feast here.

Feast One Hundred & Twenty-Five

Appetizer
Which celebrity (or celebrities) do you think will make headlines this year?

Probably Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri. I'm sure the press would love to report every tidbit available about this showbiz family.

Soup
They say that good things come in small packages? What is something little that you think is great?

I would say Bizu's Macaron de Paris. I love these round pastel-colored pastries because they are sinfully sweet with crushed almonds and luxurious creme ganache flavors that burst in the mouth.

Salad
Name a song that makes you want to dance.

The first song that came to mind is Whitney Houston's song, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." There are nicer songs that I like but just couldn't remember right now.

Main Course
What is your favorite font?

I don't have a favorite font in particular. I like experimenting with different types.

Dessert
If you were to write a do-it-yourself article, what would it be about?

I would probably write about creative ways of wrapping gifts. I love adding personal touches to presents like personalized tags, felt cut-outs, colorful bows, dried flowers, etc.

Quality Play Time

Jules and I spent the other day playing with Yohan. Our young boy was very happy and excited because we were both there to spend some quality time with him. Jules gladly set-up Yohan's train tracks at our lanai and the three of us spent a nice afternoon together.

Yohan loves playing make believe. Sometimes he surprises me with his vivid imagination. He enjoys playing train driver and conductor at the same time. When we were playing he assigned me and Jules as his passengers.

Yohan decided to liven up the playscene by setting up a farm with all the farm animals. We were amuzed when our boy also put dinosaurs and reptiles on one side and jungle animals on another. He also grouped his insects in one corner.

I guess Yohan decided to have a whole animal soiree so he later on had all the animals, prehistoric and not, mingle with one another. ha! ha!

It was a fun family afternoon.

The New Year's Resolution Generator

Found this cool link at Judy's. I tried it and got a few hilarious and naughty ones but settled on a nice resolution that I personally like.

In the year 2007 I resolve to:
Build up my chi.

Chi is "the circulating life energy that in Chinese philosophy is thought to be inherent in all things; in traditional Chinese medicine the balance of negative and positive forms in the body is believed to be essential for good health." [source]

For the fun of it, tried it a couple times until I got this one which made me laugh.

Get Together with College Friends

I had a nice get together with my college friends after Christmas. Our little party was hosted by Mare at her posh condo at Bonifacio Ridge.

It was a potluck dinner. Jules and I brought Rosemary Roasted Chicken, Joy brought Pasta in White Sauce and Mare prepared Stufffed Squid and Roasted Pork. Phen brought sinfully delicious Chocolate Cake and Sylvannas while Chary made her famous Buko Pandan. Len gave away assorted Fudge Brownies.

I was so caught up with our wonderful chitchat that I totally forgot to buy a box of Krispy Kreme across the street. It was already closed by the time I remembered. Good thing, Mare served a box of Krispy Kreme donuts so I didn't feel all that bad. I can always buy some next time.

We had a great time catching up on each other's lives. Some of them, I haven't seen for a while so it was a perfect time for discovering things we missed about one another. It was a merry night of infectious laughter and fun chatter. Of course, we did all that in between bites of delicious food. :)

Funny how we all decided not to bring the kids with us so we could have more time to bond with each other without worrying what our little ones are doing on the side. We also didn't have trouble staying late because we know the kids were home safe. We ended the night exchanging wonderful presents.

It was a lovely evening spent with great friends.

The night, however, had some moments of sadness when Len told us that our College friend, Michelle had passed away recently in the States. She died of Cervical Cancer. We will miss her fun company, cute laughter and child-like voice. Rest in peace dear Michelle.

Born in the Year of the Ox

I was born in the Year of the Ox. I came across this site and it says that ...

People born in the Year of the Ox (1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997) are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend, however, to be eccentric, and bigoted, and they anger easily. They have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people.
Interesting! I think most of it are true except for the patient part. I hate to admit it but I'm an impatient person. Even as a child, I found it very hard to wait for Christmas Eve to open my parents. I would beg my mom if I could open a gift before Christmas. She would compromise by allowing me to open just one gift but the rest always had to wait. As an adult, I try my best to practice patience. My husband always tells me that there is always a right time for everything. As a mother, I try to be patient with my son. Although, sadly, there are times when I lose my cool.

I'm usually soft spoken and have a mild disposition. But when I get angry, sparks fly. Something I wish to lessen this year. I always feel guilty after venting my anger. I hope to change this because losing my temper always leaves me with a heavy heart.

Oh yes, the stubborn part is quite true. I can really be stubborn at times. When I was younger, I always felt compelled to get what I wanted even though it wasn't practical.

Today, I think I'm more mature. Being a mother has taught me to be more practical, reasonable, and realistic. I have learned to prioritize my son's needs before mine.

When I was younger, I hated failing. I was always very competitive. Back then, I also detested criticisms. I never showed how much I was affected but I would cry when nobody was looking. I took every criticism seriously. I don't know what happened but over the years, I have learned to overcome this weakness. I have learned to look at unfavorable comments as constructive criticisms Today, I try to use them for my own benefit. I'm thankful for constructive criticisms because they make me strive to develop and improve myself.

The year 2007 is the Year of the Pig (1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007).
People born in the Year of the Pig are chivalrous and gallant. Whatever they do, they do with all their strength. For Boar Year people, there is no left or right and there is no retreat. They have tremendous fortitude and great honesty. They dont make many friends but they make them for life, and anyone having a Boar Year friend is fortunate for they are extremely loyal. They dont talk much but have a great thirst for knowledge. They study a great deal and are generally well informed. Boar people are quick tempered, yet they hate arguments and quarreling. They are kind to their loved ones. No matter how bad problems seem to be, Boar people try to work them out, honestly if sometimes impulsively. They are most compatible with Rabbits and Sheep.

What year of the animal were you born in?

My Sunshine

Being a mom is the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me.

My greatest blessing in life is Yohan. He's my own little sunshine. He's like a light shining through the window. He teaches me to be more understanding and patient. He inspires me to become a better person.

Each day when I wake up, I long for his good morning kisses. I love it when he wakes me up in the morning with his small kisses. At night, I'm guaranteed sweet dreams as long as I hug him until I fall asleep.

Life is wonderful!

Holiday Highlights

Cool Slideshows

This is a bit late. I've been a little busy and didn't have time to upload the photos earlier. Anyway, here are some highlights of our Christmas Season. Jules' family had Noche Buena at our house on Chirstmas Eve. It was a merry evening with the family. We all shared a small feast after hearing mass together.

Yohan received lots of wonderful gifts from family and friends. It was great watching him open each present. I loved how he smiled with delight every time he opened a gift. The family had our annual Exchange Gift on Christmas Day. Yohan received more gifts that day. My heart almost melted when Yohan said, "This is the best Christmas ever."

We welcome 2007 as a family. We look forward to more happy moments together.
