Yohan turned six years old last July 18. It has been six meaningful and wonderful years. Jules and I are grateful to God for giving us such a fun loving and sweet son.

Dinner time

One of the highlights of the evening was the game Yohan prepared for his grandmas, aunts and uncles. The game was called "How well do you know Yohan?" I helped my son prepare simple questions about himself and numbered them accordingly. I prepared small pieces of paper with nos. 1-14 and Yohan asked each guest to draw a number.

Yohan served as the Game Master. He read the questions one at a time. Each correct answer was equivalent to one prize. The prizes consisted of small practical items like mug, foldable hamper, lotion, powder, cologne, post-it pads with pencils, hand sanitizers, cellphone holder, chamois, etc. Guests who provided wrong answers were asked to return the numbers inside the container. There was a second round of question-and-answer for those who didn't make it on the first one. At the end, everyone got a prize. It was a simple yet fun game. Everyone had a great time especially the Game Master himself.

Two possible answers: Optimus Prime and Bumblebee

Chocolate Salami served with Kapeng Barako (Batangas coffee).

Yohan was very happy with the gifts he received that night...

Kindness Goes a Long Way

This post is dedicated to Jo of Wits and Nuts. I would like her belated Happy Birthday and Happy 2nd Blog Anniversary. To celebrate these two special occasions, she is having a
blog giveaway
.

Jo's challenge: Make someone you personally know AND a stranger (or not so stranger) happy (happier) or feel better.

Someone I Know

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless." - Mother Teresa

I'm blessed to have a kind and nurturing yaya (nanny). She has taken good care of me since I was a baby. I'm thankful that she decided to stay with our family through the years. She is like a second mom to me.

Just the other day I embraced my yaya and whispered "I love you." I'm sure she knows how much she means to me but I'm sure saying the words aloud made her feel good and vise versa.

Not So Stranger

"When you carry out acts of kindness you get a wonderful feeling inside. It is as though something inside your body responds and says, yes, this is how I ought to feel." - Harold Kushner

A few days ago while I was making a cheese sandwich for my son, I heard the distinctive sound of the grass cutter outside. I checked and saw two village maintenance personnel cutting the grass in the nearby vacant lots. I hurriedly made two more sandwiches and asked our household helper to give it to the working men outside. The men conveyed their thanks. It was a very small gesture but it felt good knowing that I was able to do something nice that day.

Wordless Wednesday #65

I'm one day behind but I hope it's still OK if I still post my WW. :)

Yohan is celebrating his 6th Birthday this coming Saturday. He will have a post birthday celebration in school next week. I've been busy looking for small birthday giveaways for my son's classmates. I found cute little little ponies and zebras (stuffed toys) for the girls. You can see a sample on my other blog. Hope you can go there to check out my Wordless Wednesday #65. For the boys I bought mini cars. I still need to buy sweet treats to put inside the loot bags.

Dog Shampoo

I love pets especially dogs. I believe that all pet owners should be responsible for the proper grooming and well being of their pets. Dogs for example require regular grooming. Is your dog itching, scratching and stinking beyond belief? If the answer is yes then chances are you are not giving your dog the proper bath it needs. There might be something wrong if the odor returns quickly despite giving your dog constant baths. Other owners wait weeks between bathing their dogs because of flaky, dry and sensitive skin. Some owners complain of their dogs' excessive shedding. When you encounter problems like these, you might want to re-think if you are using the right products for your dogs. There are many dog products sold in the market that have strong components resulting to skin irritations. Protect your dogs by giving them safe and gentle grooming products.

You might want to try the all natural dog shampoo Dogosuds ® made by Dinovite, Inc. This natural dog shampoo makes your dog smell clean for a long period. It also lathers perfectly and rinses easily. Dog owners can be assured that it contains 100% pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. Dogs can benefit from its natural and healing properties. This dog shampoo is perfect for sensitive skin because of its gentle soothing formula. It has no chemicals, perfumes and fillers that can irritate your dog's skin. For fleas problem, this dog shampoo is an effective natural flea deterrent. It even works agains skunk odor. You may also want to check out the other remarkable Dinovite products at their site.

Weekend Snapshot #81

My son loves building stuff using his City Series blocks (similar to Lego). The small structures usually come with instructions. I was desperately helping my son with his windmill when hubby came home to the rescue. I was relieved when hubby was nice enough to fill my shoes for this task. :) Yohan was so pleased when it was finished. Yohan made the wheel barrow and truck all by himself.

In our village, we use colored strings to tie garbage bags to distinguish its contents. Green strings are used for biodegradable waste like food. Yellow strings are reserved for cans, plastic, glass and metal. Blue strings are designated for dry paper waste while red strings are for waste that cannot be recycled nor put to good use (like diapers and napkins).

When you want a dose of sugar rush, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

I usually think of a piece of chocolate. A slice of cake would be great as well. If all things fail, a glass of coke would do. Ha ha!

My son is looking forward to watching Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Hubby and I promised to take him to the movie theater soon. Yohan was glad to dropped by McDonald's to take advantage of the current Happy Meal featuring characters from the said movie.

McDonald's Twister Fries

Yohan's first three choices are Manny, Diego and Momma Dino. He also recently acquired Sid and Ruby (not included in the photo). He needs three more to complete the set.

I gave this gift to my SIL on her recent birthday. I decorated a miniature "Chinese take out style" box with pink flowers. I put a pink cologne inside.

Here's an empty pink heart-shaped container I found at home.

Is there something you're sorry about
?

I would like to take this opportunity to say sorry to my blog friends who have recently tagged me with meme and awards. I'm sorry if I failed to do recent tags because I've been a little preoccupied. I'm afraid I lost track of some tags already and hope you won't take it against me. I hope I can make it up to you next time.
