Frugal Christmas Tips

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. You don't have to spend too much in order to have a memorable Christmas season. Don't be caught up with the glitter and glam of the holiday season by spending more than you can afford. Make a budget and stick to it.

Here are some tips to help you save on Christmas gifts:

1. People appreciate gifts with personal touch. Consider making your own personalized gifts. For example, if you're good at cross stitch, you can give someone special a framed cross stitch work. How about a lovely quilt or a knitted sweater? If your are good in art, a painting or a sketch would make a wonderful present.

2. Family and very close friends will appreciate gifts involving your time and service. You can print a nice certificate entitling the person a specific service like a foot spa or a massage. Another nice idea would be doing chores as gifts like mowing grass and gardening.

3. Save on wrapping materials. You can make your own wrapping paper using inexpensive materials. You can use cheap brown paper which you can liven up with some art work. Or you can use colored magazines and add a personalized gift tag.

4. Give inexpensive but quality gifts like replica timepieces. These Fake watches are of high quality and functionality at the fraction of the original cost.

Do you have any fun discovery lately?

My parents sent Yohan all these wonderful Crayola art materials recently. Yohan was excited to use the large box of crayons.

When he was busy coloring I noticed one of the crayons. The name of the crayon is "macaroni and cheese". This fun discovery made me smile. I'm sure there are more fun colors that I will discover soon.

Phone Number Lookup

Sometimes it can be frustrating when you hear your phone ringing and you could not answer it on time. What if you checked your phone and the caller's number is not familiar to you? You might think twice about calling back since you do not have an idea about the caller's identity. If you want to avoid the hassle of ending up with a phone conversation that you do not want then you can use reverse phone lookup canada.

I'm very sorry for being so late with my visits this week. I've been quite busy these past few days. Tomorrow is Yohan's last day in school and then it's their semestral break. I'll have more time to come over and visit you this weekend.

I was at the mall with my family the other day and saw this lovely tree. Christmas is truly in the air. You may see the grand tree at my other blog.

The committee held their first cleanup event on September 24th 2008. We were pleased to see a large number of employees, as well as their families and friends, attend. Everyone was in good spirits, and had a great time as they dug in and brought this trail back to its original beauty.
The cleanup project included graffiti removal in the two tunnel portions of the trail section, vandalism repair, as well as litter and debris removal along the trail.

The HIT Good Works Committee conducts bi-weekly checks of the trail to ensure that it is being properly maintained. We will also be holding cleanup events once a month with our next event scheduled for October 29th 2008. We are looking forward to having as great of a turnout as we were able to have last month.

Early Trick or Treat

Last Saturday evening, we had an early Halloween celebration at the village. We didn't have time to buy some decorations but we made do with the available materials at home. We used two identical masks and placed them on our lamp posts outside the main door. We used black garbage bags as bodies. Yohan helped his Dad put up a few happy looking ghosts. :)

There was a Best in Halloween costume contest at the clubhouse followed by the Trick or Treat around the village. Yohan received a lot of goodies that night.

Photo Hunt :: Scary

PSHunt
Come and join the hunt here

This is the huge skull at the entrance of the scary dungeon at Star City (amusement park). I could hear people screaming inside. My family decided to skip this part.

We went inside Dino island instead. When we entered, we met this scary Dimetrodon with sharp teeth and loud intimidating sound.

My family passed by a dark scary area in Dino Island. We noticed a dark cave where a huge T-Rex head suddenly appeared.

Roles of Parents

Parents play a vital role in the development of their child. Parents are a child's primary provider of encouragement, support and guidance. Every child deserves to be brought up in a nurturing environment. Parents are a child’s first role models so it is important provide a positive environment.

Both father and mother have their respective responsibilities in developing a happy family life. It is important for parents take an active role in their children’s physical, moral, intellectual, emotional, and social development. Rearing a family is more than a partnership. Both parents are expected to help one another in providing physical resources (e.g. food, shelter and clothing), giving emotional support, making decisions and managing the family. Mother and father both serve important roles in the success of a family unit.

Sadly, not all marriages are successful. Sometimes irreconcilable differences force partners to part ways and lead separate lives. It's sad but in reality, children are often the ones who suffer the most especially when they get caught in between opposing parents.

A father's rights is equally important as a mother's rights. It is vital for parting couples to come up with common goals to ensure a good future for their children.

Coffee Varieties

Coffee is considered as one of the highly consumed beverages. Drinking coffee can be good for the body if it is consumed moderately. In fact, several studies claim that coffee can actually reduce the risks of Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis. The anti-oxidants and other components found in coffee beans provide these health benefits.

I saw this list of types of coffee and I'm overwhelmed by the number of varieties available. I didn't realize that there are so many kinds of coffee to choose from. I haven't even tried half of that coffee on the list.
  • Black coffee
  • Cafe au Lait
  • Cafe Breva
  • Caffe Latte
  • Cafe Macchiato
  • Cappuccino
  • Double, or Double Shot
  • Dry Cappuccino
  • Espresso Con Panna
  • Flavored coffee
  • Frappe
  • Greek Coffee
  • Hammerhead
  • Iced coffee:
  • Indian (Madras) filter coffee
  • Instant coffee (or soluble coffee)
  • Irish coffee
  • Kopi TubrukLungo
  • Macchiato
  • Melya
  • Mocha
  • Oliang/Oleng
  • Ristretto
  • Soluble Coffee
  • Turkish Coffee
  • Vietnamese style coffee
  • White coffee
Some of my favorite coffee variations are cappuccino and macchiato. Actually I prefer the cold ones more than the hot beverages. I like frapuccino the best. How about you?

If you're looking for quality coffee brewer, check out K-Cups. You can even get free shipping and volume discounts on K-Cup coffee.

Quality Cookware As Gifts

My husband loves cooking. He does not think of cooking as a chore but something he truly enjoys.

During special occasions I often end up buying kitchenware for him. I remember during one of our anniversaries, I bought him two Solingen knives. He was thrilled when he opened my present. I also bought him a few pots and pans in the past. Last Christmas I got him a nice mixer courtesy of my parents.

I love buying recipe books for my hubby. The recent one I bought is this 3 Step 30-Minute Recipes. It has more than 200 recipes. This recipe book features irresistible dips, spreads, munchies and beverages. It also has sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, stews, chilis, steaks and best of all delectable desserts.

Christmas is just a few months away and I'm thinking of buying some quality cookware for my hubby. I'm sure he would love to have a set of Le Creuset Cookware. It is a premium line of cookware made of cast iron. This material is best known for its heat retention, durability and aesthetic. Le Creuset has a wide range of cookware available like pans, round casserole dishes, oval casserole dishes, ovenware, tableware, mini casserole dishes, saucepans, and lots more.
